GRANITE CITY, New Hampshire (CNM) -- The memo was titled "PRIVATE -- DO NOT FORWARD." Within minutes of being sent to the campaign's entire supporter mailing list Monday, it had been forwarded, by one estimate, about 40,000 times.
The document was mostly mundane, outlining a schedule of town-hall meetings and a plan to emphasize education. But it also described one rival as "a filing cabinet in a necktie" and recommended the governor "smile more in rural areas."
Price-Morrow took responsibility. "We have learned a valuable lesson about technology," she told reporters. "I have also learned a valuable lesson about smiling, which is that I will now be asked about it constantly."
The staffer, a 23-year-old volunteer, was not fired. "He's been reassigned to a job with no computer," a spokesman said. "Phones only. Rotary."
