HALCYON SPRINGS, Florida (CNM) -- The Sunbelt Golf Tour said Tuesday it was delaying its first event of 2000, the Halcyon Springs Classic, from January 6 to January 13 to give technicians more time to test scoring systems.
"We did a test and the leader board showed a man at minus-1,900," said tour commissioner Doug Farnsworth. "He was very pleased. Unfortunately, it was not accurate."
Players reacted mostly with shrugs. "One more week of vacation," said three-time tour winner Teddy Calloway. "I'll take it."
Officials said volunteers with pencils and paper would stand by at every hole "just in case."
