LAKE WENDELL, Minnesota (CNM) -- The Lake Wendell Loons beat the Cedar Notch Snowshoes 4-2 Friday, but the most memorable fight of the night came between periods, when the teams' mascots collided during a T-shirt cannon contest.

Witnesses said Mortimer the Moose, the Snowshoes' mascot, fired a T-shirt that struck Lonnie the Loon in the beak. Lonnie responded with what the league later described as "an aggressive wing."
Both mascots were escorted from the arena and fined $50. The league said the costumes would be suspended for one game.
"It was the best entertainment we have had all year," said season-ticket holder Ellen Trask, 72. "Better than the hockey, frankly."
