LORNSWICK, Esterhaal (CNM) -- The Millennium Bubble, a translucent dome covering 20 acres beside the River Lorn, welcomed its first visitors Friday after three years of construction and a budget that tripled along the way.

Inside are 14 themed "zones," including a walk-through model of the human ear, a hall devoted to the history of the umbrella and a 90-foot fiberglass statue of a family watching television.
"It is the future, as imagined in the past, opening in the present," said project director Sir Neville Ashdown, before a gust of wind caused the northeast corner of the dome to sag noticeably.
Officials said the sag was "within tolerance" and would be corrected by additional blowers. Tickets go on sale next week at 20 crowns for adults; children under 5, umbrellas and ears are admitted free.
