The Northeast could be colder than usual, with temperatures in the teens for outdoor celebrations, while the Pacific Northwest may see light rain.
"It is a long way out, so take this with a grain of road salt," said CNM meteorologist Gil Haverstock. "I can tell you with complete confidence that it will be dark at midnight."
Forecasters will update the outlook daily. CNM's weather team plans live coverage through the night, with special reports from 24 time zones and a meteorologist stationed, by popular demand, in the Marisol Islands.
