Welcome to my homepage!

Welcome to Y2K: Are YOU Ready?!

Welcome to the bunker. Literally: I built one. It is 12 by 16 feet, under the garden shed, and it has a generator, 400 gallons of water and a lot of canned peaches.

Countdown

The Stockpile

Beans150 lbs
Canned peaches96 cans (my weakness)
Peanut butter40 jars
Generator5000 watt
Gas60 gallons, rotated monthly
Coffeeenough for the next millennium

Y2K Checklist

  • Water: 1 gallon per person per day. Get 90 days worth.
  • Manual can opener (VERY important, do not laugh)
  • Cash. Small bills. ATMs may not work.
  • Generator + fuel (store fuel SAFELY)
  • Kerosene heater and lamps
  • Batteries, batteries, batteries
  • Paper copies of bank statements from December 1999
  • First aid kit and 3 months of prescriptions
  • A hand-crank radio
  • Toilet paper. So much toilet paper.

My Prediction

My brother-in-law says I am crazy. He also does not own a manual can opener. We will see who is crazy on January 2nd.
