VERSES FROM THE DARK

Midnight
The clock strikes twelve
and no one hears
but me and the moon
and a thousand years

I light a candle
it flickers and dies
like every promise
like all your lies

Black Rose
I gave you a rose
it was black like my heart
you said "how goth"
then we drifted apart

~ ~ ~

The Rain Knows
The rain knows my name
it whispers it at night
against the window glass
when nothing feels right

The rain knows my name
but it never calls it loud
it just keeps on falling
from a lonely cloud

Static Heart
My heart is a TV
at three in the morning
all static and snow
and no one is watching

Ashes
We burned the letters
in a coffee can
the smoke went up
like it had a plan

now all that is left
is a smudge on my hand
and a song on the radio
I can't stand
