TWIN FORKS, Montana (CNM) -- Every evening at 6 o'clock, Earl Fennimore flips a single switch in his garage and his two-story house disappears behind 310,000 colored lights, 14 animated reindeer and a 30-foot inflatable snowman.

Fennimore, 51, says his display uses enough electricity to run a small hardware store. "The power company sends us a Christmas card every year," he said. "This year it was a very nice card."
The display draws hundreds of cars a night, and neighbors have organized a cocoa stand to raise money for the volunteer fire department. Traffic is directed by a teenager in an elf costume.
Fennimore says he has no plans to scale back for Y2K. "If the grid goes down," he said, "everybody will know exactly where it happened."
