Sego Daydream Sells 500,000 Units in Two Weeks
Games Posted by Pixelfish on Sunday October 17, @08:12PM EDT
from the 128-bits-of-fun dept.
RetroRaccoon writes "Sego's new Daydream console has reportedly moved half a million units since its 9/9/99 launch, making it the fastest selling console ever, at least until the next one. The box has a built-in 56k modem, which means it is the first game console that can tell you your mom is trying to use the phone." I've been playing Soul Spatula for twelve days straight. Send help, or more controllers.

Online console gaming is going to be huge. Not with a 56k modem, mind you, but eventually.

I work in this field, and the parent is basically right, although the details are a bit more complicated than one comment can cover.

The parent's point stands, though: it depends entirely on the use case.

Wait for the PlayBox 2. The Emotional Engine is supposed to render actual feelings in real time.

Did anyone actually read the article? Half the comments here are answering questions that are answered in the second paragraph.

The little memory card with the LCD screen is the best gadget of the year. I raise a virtual pet on it during meetings.

In the real world, nobody cares about this stuff. They care whether their e-mail works.
