Pear Computer's iTop Laptop Now in Five Fruit Flavors

ClamshellCarl writes "Pear has expanded its translucent clamshell laptop line to five colors: Blueberry, Tangerine, Lime, Grape and a new 'Graphite' for people who want to be taken seriously at meetings. It has a handle, wireless networking that works without wires, and weighs about as much as a medium-sized cat." I want one. I don't know why. I just do.

    Wireless networking

The wireless card is the real story here. In five years every laptop will have it and every coffee shop will have a base station. Mark my words.

Exactly. And the vendors know it, which is why they're scared.

Citation needed. Where are you getting these numbers?

    Toilet seat

It looks like a toilet seat. A very nice, translucent, tangerine toilet seat.

Still with the one button trackpad. How do I middle-click paste?

I'm not so sure this is good news. Every time someone says 'this will change everything', it changes about 3% of something.

This is the most sensible thing I've read on Dashdot all week. Somebody mod this up.

Not true at all. I've been running it for months with no problems. Maybe check your hardware?

    BSD: a eulogy
    by pitchfork_pete on Thursday October 14, @05:34PM EDT (#8)

Sad news, everyone. Analysts at a firm I just made up report that BSD now runs on fewer than 4% of servers, down from 4.1% last spring. Even the daemon mascot has been seen updating his resume. Gather round, friends, and light a candle for the little OS that could, but statistically shouldn't.

The parent's point stands, though: it depends entirely on the use case.

    Read the article

Did anyone actually read the article? Half the comments here are answering questions that are answered in the second paragraph.

    Year 2000

Just wait until January. Then we'll see who's laughing. (Probably everyone. The answer is probably everyone.)
