FreeDaemon 3.3 Released Posted by Hemlock on Thursday October 14, @10:15PM EDT from the the-daemon-is-alive dept. pitchfork_pete writes "FreeDaemon 3.3-RELEASE is out, with improved SMP support, a new sound driver framework, Linix binary compatibility that actually runs most Linix binaries faster than Linix does, and the usual mountain of bug fixes. ISO images are on the FTP mirrors; the main FTP server is reportedly already maxed out at 2,000 users." Before anyone posts it: no, it is not dying. [ Reply to This | Parent ] Ports collection by NavNerd on Thursday October 14, @10:29PM EDT (#3) (User Info) The ports tree is still the best package system out there. cd /usr/ports/whatever; make install clean. Done. [ Reply to This ] Re:Ports collection by Anonymous Coward on Thursday October 14, @11:09PM EDT (#9) Heh. Nice one. Nobody is arguing it's perfect, just that it's better than what we had. Without them every vendor builds a little walled garden and the users pay for the walls. [ Reply to This ]
